Established in 1978 by Ellen and Fred Schreiber, E. K. Schreiber Rare Books specializes in continental books printed before 1700.
Fred holds a Ph.D. in Classical Philology from Harvard and taught Classics at CUNY; he has contributed entries to The New Columbia Encyclopedia, The Oxford Companion to the Book, and other publications. He is also the author of two reference catalogues: The Estiennes (1982), and Simon de Colines (1995).
Ellen received her MLS from Simmons College and headed two Departments at Harvard's Widener Library.
We are members of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), and the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America (ABAA). Our major fields of specialization are:
Early Printed Continental Books, Renaissance Humanism, Early and Important Editions of the Greek & Latin Classics, Early Illustrated Books, Emblem Books, Early Bibles (in Greek & Latin)
